Dr. Garner was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ, attended college at the University of Arizona, and attended medical school at Stanford University. He received his training in internal medicine at the University of Rochester and was an infectious disease fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital. His primary interests have been clinical infectious diseases, medical education and hospital epidemiology.

Dr. Garner was the Infectious Disease Division Director at The Hospital of Central Connecticut from 1984 until two years ago when he became Chief of Medicine. Throughout his career he has been active in medical education of students, primary care internal medicine residents and infectious disease fellows.

Dr. Nathanson earned a BA (English Lit.) in 1982 from Yeshiva University in New York City and he graduated in 1990 from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine where he also completed his internal medicine training. He began practising internal medicine and critical care medicine in 1995 at York County Hospital in Newmarket, Ontario which, in 2000, became Southlake Regional Health Centre.

Early on Dr. Nathanson served as medical director of the inpatient Palliative Care Unit. He later founded the Southlake Heart Function Program. He was president of the Southlake Medical Staff Association for 4 years. He then helped develop Southlake's Clinical Resource Utilization Management Program. From 2008 to 2017 he served as Southlake's Physician Leader (Medical Director), Acute Medicine Programs.

In 2010 Dr. Nathanson completed a Master of Science degree in Health Care Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. He has served on 2 Ontario provincial task forces, the ER/ALC Advisory Committee and the ALC Action Team. In July of 2016, Dr. Nathanson completed a 2-year term as co-chair of Southlake&apost;s Quality, Utilization and Resource Management committee. He began his latest administrative role in December of 2016, Chief of Staff at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston, Ontario. He is presently serving as a member of the Physician Payment Review Board of the Ontario Ministry of Health and the Ontario Medical Association.

Dr. Nathanson's additional professional interests are in Medical Bioethics and Health Law, Health Policy and Health Economics, especially the impact of different payor systems on clinical systems design and on clinical decision making, the role of Physician Leadership and Engagement in driving system change toward improved clinical safety, efficiency and effectiveness, and physician health and wellness.

His many personal interests include travelling, especially on his 2014 Indian Chief Classic, together with his wife, Genny, all over Ontario, Canada, the US, and beyond!

Seattle, Washington (Embark and Debark) - The Emerald City of the Pacific Northwest, Seattle is one of America's most vibrant cities. Stroll its bustling waterfront (including Pike Place Market), visit the Space Needle, and find a great coffee-shop to enjoy in this coffee-loving city (the home of Starbucks). One of America's tech centers (Amazon and Microsoft are both headquartered here), the city is abuzz with the interesting people attracted to the opportunities to be found there. There is more than enough to see and do here to keep you busy for a day or two. If you have a little extra time, Seattle is a great place to visit.
Inside Passage - This is one of the most famously beautiful passages in all the world. It features virtually everything you came to Alaska hoping to see, including rain forests, glaciers, fjords and white-capped peaks. All of which create a setting that's perfect for viewing whales and sea lions.
Juneau, Alaska - In Alaska's capital, you can pan for gold at Gold Creek and taste salmon baked on an alderwood fire, mush sleddogs, flightsee the Juneau Ice Field, and walk right up to the Mendenhall Glacier at the park. This charming small city also hosts an excellent zipline course. And for the less adventurous, the Red Dog Saloon is near the dock.
