Seminar Policies:

Seminar fees include workshop attendance, handouts and refreshments during the meetings and documentation of continuing education credit*.

All persons attending the seminar must pay a seminar fee. Spouses, family and friends are welcome and do not pay the seminar fee unless they attend the educational sessions. Special seminar fees are available for non-professional accompanying persons who wish to attend one or more sessions (no special receipt, documentation or credit is issued). Children are not allowed in the meeting room.

Seminar Refund Policy: Advance written notice is required for any refund consideration.

Up to the Early Bird Deadline: Cancellations are subject to a $50 processing fee per person or you may apply your full registration fee one time to another program attended within 12 months.

After Early Bird Deadline: No refunds, although seminar fee less $50 processing fee may be applied one time to another program attended within 12 months.

Two weeks before the start of the seminar: No refunds or application of fee to another program for cancellation, nonappearance or partial attendance. No refunds due to airline delays or cancellation of flights. With the exception of Canada, we offer no international refunds. Refunds processed by original form of payment or by check only. Refunds may take 2-4 weeks to process after notification of cancellation.

Session 1: Sunday, July 1, 2018, 7:45 AM Check In, 8:00 AM - 1:30PM Educational Program (5hrs)

Pharmacotherapeutic Options for Managing Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) AND Antimicrobial Agents for Use in Primary Care .

At the conclusion of this session, the participant will be able to:

  1. Describe the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and the role environmental factors play in acute and chronic asthma, and COPD
  2. Discuss the risks and benefits of available therapeutic agents used in the management of asthma and COPD.
  3. Apply learned information to patient based case scenarios.
  4. Describe available antimicrobial drugs used to manage commonly encountered infections.
  5. Discuss advantages and disadvantages of antimicrobial agents used in the primary care setting.
Session 2: Sunday, July 1, 2018, 2:15 PM Check In, 2:30 PM - 5:00PM Educational Program (2.5 hrs)-Patient Safety

Clinically Relevant Drug Interactions Encountered in Primary Care AND Avoiding Polypharmacy in the Elderly

At the conclusion of these sessions, the participant will be able to:
  1. Describe the metabolic pathways utilized in the elimination of medications.
  2. Describe medication classes or individual medicines commonly responsible for drug-drug interactions.
  3. Outlines strategies to minimize the effect of drug interactions.
  4. Discuss the basic principles of pharmacology in the aging process.
  5. Discuss strategies to optimize adherence and minimize drug administration errors.
  6. Apply learned information to patient based case scenarios.
Session 3: : Thursday, July 5, 2018, 2:15 PM Check In, 2:30 PM- 5:00PM Educational Program (2.5 hrs)

Drug Therapies for Ischemic Heart Disease AND Update on Dyslipidemic Therapies

At the conclusion of this session, the participant will be able to:
  1. Discuss the pathophysiology and disease mechanisms associated with Ischemic Heart Disease and Dyslipidemias.
  2. Describe the pharmacotherapy options and management guidelines .
  3. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of available therapies.
  4. Apply guideline based therapies using patient based scenarios.
Session 4: Friday, July 6, 2018, 7:45 AM Check In, 8:00 AM - 1:30PM Educational Program (5hrs)

Case Based Application of New Guidelines for Hypertension and Heart Failure AND Drug Therapies for Commonly Encountered Arrhythmias

At the conclusion of these sessions, the participant will be able to:
  1. Discuss the pathophysiology of Hypertension, Heart Failure, and Commonly Encountered Arrhythmias.
  2. Discuss the role of medical therapies as outlined in current guidelines for these disease states.
  3. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of available therapies.
  4. Apply learned information to patient based case scenarios.

Nurse Practitioners: American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC): Continuing education hours approved by AAFP and by ACPE meet the ANCC-accredited CNE criteria. This course provides Category 1 Continuing Education Hours for certification renewal. The same hours submitted to renew certification may be submitted to a State Board of Nursing for re-licensure.

National Certification Corporation (NCC): Recognizes any Nursing, Medical, Health Care or Other For Profit or Not for Profit Education Provider. Please contact NCC regarding approval.
