The CE sessions will be held from 8am to 12 noon on July 5th & 8th.
A total of 8 CE Credits will be awarded.
Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry: Traditional vs. Contemporary Treatment
This course is being held in partnership with the New York Academy of Dentistry and the New York County Dental Society. It is recommended for the entire dental team.
Course Description:
This course will provide an overview and comparison of techniques between traditional and contemporary therapies. Indications and contraindications will be reviewed. New decision making paradigms will be evaluated regarding maintaining questionable teeth versus extraction.
Periodontal topics will include:
# disease vs. inflammation
# contained local periodontal problems vs. systemic effects
# bacteria removal vs. host modulation
# aggressive nonsurgical therapy vs. flap surgery
# therapy for oral health and function vs. esthetics/comfort
Restorative topics will include:
# posterior amalgam (direct)
# cast gold restorations (indirect)
# posterior composite (direct) & posterior ceramic (indirect)
# CadCam (direct/indirect)
# anterior composite laminate (direct)
and anterior ceramic laminate (indirect)
# ceramic crown & pfm crown
Course Objectives:
This course will enable you to:
# understand the long term success rate of traditional restorative vs. implant dentistry
# be able to evaluate traditional non-surgical and surgical therapies vs. contemporary approaches in periodontics
# understand new concepts of disease in periodontics and restorative dentistry
Conference Sessions generally take place during the days at sea (as cruise itinerary allows) to avoid conflicts with Ports of Call or evening entertainment.
