The purpose of this activity is to give participants an update in the diagnostic and therapeutic developments in the field of gastroenterology
1. Describe clinical manifestations,diagnostic evaluation, and therapeutic options for eosinophilic esophagitis
2. Review the potential of new diagnostic tests to guide IBD therapy
3. Identify the”silent” celiac disease epidemic
4. Discuss the emerging issue of microscopic colitis
5. Describe the emerging therapeutic role of probiotics in GI disorders
6. Review the evolving IBS paradigm
7. Discuss emerging concepts in Clostridia difficile toxin colitis
8. Review emerging therapies for hepatitis B
9. Review emerging therapies for hepatitis C
10. Describe new capsule endoscopy technologies: colon, smart pill and beyond
11. Identify current state-of-the-art approaches to NASH/NAFL
12. Discuss the spectrum of GI disorders of pregnancy
13. Review challenging GI cases from the George Washington University Medical Center (2 hrs)
