Ross was born and raised in Birmingham, AL. He attended Birmingham-Southern College, where he graduated summa cum laude with Honors in Biology. He remained in Birmingham for medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine.

He was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and graduated cum laude. He completed his internal medicine internship at the University of Colorado in Denver. He is excited to join the UMMC Dermatology family to focus on providing care to Mississippians, especially in rural areas. Outside of medicine, his interests include backpacking, fishing, paddling, and skiing.
