Program Purpose / Objectives
PREDICTABLE, PROFITABLE, MINIMAL STRESS DENTISTRY - THE COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH

I. Tired of “grinding in your cases?” Know where the joints are - review of the Anatomical Basis of CR & The Masticatory System:
• Why CR is based on sound anatomy, physiology, orthopedics and not hype
• Why as dentists, we must be experts of the masticatory system and not just teeth to get predictable restorative results

II s. That sinking feeling – seeing patients at recall with chipped crowns, uncemented crowns, open contacts etc- Understanding The Principles of Occlusion:
• That occlusion is very practical, attainable but most importantly beneficial to dentist and patient
• The role of occlusion in EVERYDAY RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY. Clinical scenerios and explanations will be discussed

III. Surprises are nice – except when it happens after you start a case! The Comprehensive Exam
• How to assess the status of the entire masticatory system and do it in a way that is meaningful to your patient.
• How to do this in a efficient, effective manner and recognize signs of instability that can compromise restorative results.

IV. Avoid the fork in the road that leads to nowhere – and it’s costly to get back! The Diagnostic Blueprint
• How to visualize the form and function of the end result prior to ever starting the case thereby eliminating stress and frustration.
• A 10-step decision making thought process for predictable diagnostic wax-ups.
• How to determine a fee that fairly compensates you and which your patient will pay with gratitude and appreciation.

V. “I don’t like the way it looks, doc, and it feels funny too”. Provisionals With A Purpose
• Using provisionals to preview all aspects of form and function and verify it is correct.
• A time-efficient and effective technique for provisional fabrication will be presented which results in minimal chairside adjustment.
• Using the provisionals to make laboratory communication matrices which guarantee you will get what you expect from your technician.

VI. The no cost, bullet proof marketing tool - The Post Treatment Consultation
• The second most appointment you will ever have with your patient and how it will guarantee the future success of your practice.

Throughout the technical aspects of this lecture are woven the philosophical, behavioral and communication skills needed to make the practice not just a comprehensive, technically excellent practice but also a “relationship-based” practice in which long term, trusting relationships are developed with our patients.

TREATMENT PLANNING WORKSHOPS

The Case Study and Treatment Planning Method is a very effective way to learn. In this workshop, several fully documented cases will be presented. Pre-operative photographs, radiographs and clinical charting will be presented along with videos of the articulated diagnostic casts. Using the “10 Decisions That Must Be Made For Case Planning”, each group of 4-5 participants will discuss the case and develop a treatment plan. Each group will present their concensus treatment plan and support its rationale. Once the plans are presented, the actual treatment plan and results will be presented and discussed.

Faculty
Gregory J. Tarantola, DDS

Dr. Tarantola received his dental degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1982 and practiced dentistry in Kansas City, Missouri until 1991. During that time, he received advanced training at The Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in Key Biscayne. After completing those courses, he was asked to join the Visiting Faculty and helped teach there several times a year. He was offered a position as a Full-Time Faculty which he accepted and began there full time in 1991. His responsibilities as Clinical Director involved teaching over 3000 dentists from around the country and around the world, developing innovative and relevant teaching materials, writing articles for peer-reviewed journals, and lecturing here and abroad. These CD learning modules are a compilation of many years of documentation, study and teaching.

During that time, he also maintained a private practice, focusing his attention on comprehensive cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry. In 2001, he made the decision to return to full-time practice whereby he could devote his full attention to his patients. He still teaches on a limited basis at The Pankey Institute. Practicing comprehensive dentistry in a relationship-based setting is the message he is committed to teaching to dentists everywhere. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, the American Equilibration Society and has achieved Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.

Ports of Call
Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy - In Florence view the timeless treasures: the lofty Duomo, Giotto's bell tower, Michelangelo's David, the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio over the Arno. In Pisa, see the famous Tower, still standing, if crookedly, after 650 years.
Marseille, France - Marseille offers an unexpected view of a mosaic of buildings and National Heritage Sites from the terraces of Notre-Dame de la Garde Basilica that towers above and watches over the city.

Alongside the port the towers of Saint Victor Abbey house crypts that already existed when Christianity was introduced into Provence. The columns of the Palais de la Bourse, the noble facades of the Prefecture and the fountains of the Palais Longchamp are part of the triumphant architecture from the 19th Century that is scattered throughout the city and that gave Marseille renewed splendour.

In the old quarter the houses are built on the sunny slopes ; the clock in the Accoules Bell tower, which was the old Sauveterre tower, still marks the hours of life around the Town Hall, while beyond the dome of the Vieille Charite hospice, Pierre Puget's masterpiece, stands out against the sky. The small streets of the Panier quarter lie a little further on.
Naples, Italy - Capital of Southern Italy, the largest city of Campania, Naples is the third most populated city in Italy (after Rome and Milan), with over a million inhabitants, and is the most important industrial center and trading port for the South. Naples itself can provide a day's fun and entertainment, if its somewhat rundown appearance doesn't dissuade you. Or, join a tour of incredible Pompeii, frozen in time since A.D. 79 when Mt. Vesuvius brought an end to that then-thriving city. Or, take a quick ferry across the bay to the flowery Isle of Capri. Or, (yes, there's more) visit fabulous Sorrento, vacation spot for the well to do.
Nice, France - Cosmopolitan and chic, sun-drenched and spicy, Nice sparkles as the unofficial capital of the Riviera. Its bustling nightlife, top-notch museums, vibrant arts, and beaches enhance the charm of this Riviera town. Excellent local and regional transportation and a populace accustomed to tourists make Nice a rite of passage travelers young or old.

TravelSafe.comPlease visit TravelSafe.com for travel insurance information.

Cruise Line cancellation policies are strictly enforced. For that reason, we urge all of our travelers to carefully consider whether travel insurance is a good value for them.

Certainly, if you have reason to think that "something might come up" that might force you to cancel, travel insurance is worth the cost of the premium. Examples we've seen in the past include ill or frail family members and changes in employment causing relocation.

If travel insurance is the right choice for you, we recommend TravelSafe. To visit their site and explore your options click here or on the link above. The cruise lines also offer travel insurance and we'd be happy to help you go that route if you'd prefer.
