Program Purpose / Objectives
Purpose: To educate and update the primary care physician on current critical urologic issues relevant to their daily office and hospital practice. Upon completion, participants should be able to discuss the current evaluation, management and prevention of benign prostatic hyperplasia. In addition, participants will be able to discuss current controversial issues regarding prostate cancer screening and management. Lectures will cover the common urologic issues covered in daily medical practice and review of the urologic manifestations and issues of various disorders

Target Audience:

Family Physicians, General Practitioners, Internist, Endocrinologists, Neurologists, Cardiologists, Psychiatrist, Pediatrician, Psychologist, Pharmacists, Sex Therapist, Physician Assistants, Nurse practitioners, Gynecologists, Uro-gynecologists, Cases Managers and other important Allied Health Care Professionals who encountered patients with male and female sexual health and urologic issues

Course Description/Purpose/Need

Male and Female Health are common urological conditions that affect men and women of all age groups. This course provides the current advances in men and female urologic issues including male and female sexual health. Current scientific concepts in Male and Female Sexual health and other common urological disorders will be discussed with lectures followed by specific cases with audience participation on each topic to improve outcomes.

Teaching Objectives:

This course on Male and Female Health will:

Provide practicing physicians and allied health professional current advances in male and female basic sciences of urology

Broach and discuss evidence based Male and Female sexual health issues and urinary incontinence that are eclipsed and embarrassing their respective in clinical practices

Illustrate and establish the role of medical and surgical therapy including alternative therapy for common male and female urologic health issues

Asses, Analyze and Examine the role of current FDA approved pharmacological agents and minimally invasive devices in male and female urologic health issues in an office setting and raise awareness of the differences between various therapies

Review and provide decision making with help of case reports on each specific topic at the end of each lecture with audience participation to comprehend, improve and illustrative excellent outcomes of the topics discussed

Describe and Discuss etiology and diagnosis of current advances of frequently encountered male and female discomforting health issues in urology

SARDAR ALI KHAN, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.R.C.S. • Professor of Urology/Neurology/Physiology, SUNY at Stony Brook, New York • Chief of Urology Va Medical Center, Northport, New York • Adjunct Professor of Urology, Weill Cornell Medical College, New York.

Currently Dr. Khan’s Clinical Practice is in General Urology, Neuro-Urology, Male and female sexual dysfunction, female urology and Prostatic diseases which is located at 24 research way, Setauket, New York. In addition Dr. Khan assists urologists and helps urology residents perform major urological surgery at VA Medical Center, Northport, New York for the past 35 years. His Basic, translational and Clinical progressive Research interests are in Male and Female Sexual Dysfunction, Female Urology, Uro-pharmacology, Neuro-pharmacology, Neurology, Neuro-urology and Applied Surgical Anatomy.

Dr. Ali Khan has numerous publications to his credit in peer review journals as detailed in his complete resume. Dr. Khan has received numerous awards for teaching and mentoring for the past three decades at Stony Brook University and other educational institutions including the Aesculapiu s in 1992 . Dr. Khan was a recipient of the President of SUNY, Dr. Shirley Strum Kinney award in 2008. He is a member of Department of Urology of SUNY cited as outstanding urologists in US News and World report. He prepares candidates appearing for the Part II of American Boards with materials that provide the state of the art in current thinking in topics and categories that cover the boards’ curriculum for specific Board certifications.

Dr. Khan offers mock board oral examination reviews for specialties including Urology, General Surgery, Uro-gynecology and Ob/Gyn board examinations since 1979. Dr. Khan has energetically given several continuous medical education (CME) talks and exceptional grand rounds specifically designed to ensure succinctness, with excellence to pursuit clinical relevance in Urology, and Neurology since 1975.
