OB/GYN Hospitalist
Women First Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists-UPMC
Harrisburg, PA

Deborah J. Herchelroath, DO, FACOOG (Dist), MSCP, is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with over 25 years of clinical experience. She currently practices as a high-risk OB/GYN hospitalist at Women First Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists-UPMC and is affiliated with several hospitals, including UPMC Harrisburg, UPMC Community Osteopathic, UPMC Carlisle, and UPMC West Shore. She is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP).

Dr. Herchelroath earned her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at UPMC Memorial. Her clinical expertise bridges acute, high-acuity inpatient care with longitudinal women’s health. She is highly experienced in managing complex obstetrical emergencies—such as hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and postpartum hemorrhage—while also maintaining a specialized focus on midlife health, menopause hormone therapy, and postpartum mental health.

Throughout her career, Dr. Herchelroath has been deeply committed to patient safety, evidence-based care, and medical education. She serves as a board examiner, a medical educator, and a medico-legal consultant providing expert witness analysis on standard of care. An advocate for healthcare innovation, she holds extensive experience in telehealth and is an early adopter of integrating artificial intelligence into clinical practice to improve patient outcomes and communication.
