Dr. Helms arrived at the University of Mississippi with 35 years of private practice experience in Warren, Ohio. He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his Dermatology residency at the University of Pittsburgh.
In addition to teaching medical students and dermatology residents at Northeastern Ohio Medical University and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, he frequently has taught at regional and national venues.
His dermatology subspecialty interest is in occupational dermatology and contact dermatitis. Dr Helms has 65 scientific publications, is a reviewer for three journals; Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Cutis, and American Family Practice. He has also participated as an investigator or sub-investigator in a number of clinical trials. He enjoys fishing, reading, watching classic movies, and especially, travelling with his wife, two children and their families.
