PORTS OF CALL

Passau - Passau is a town in Lower Bavaria, Germany. It is also known as the Dreiflüssestadt or "City of Three Rivers," because the Danube is joined at Passau by the Inn from the south and the Ilz from the north.

Regensburg - Begin your cruise with a visit to Regensburg. This UNESCO site boasts architecture from many centuries, reflective of its varied history throughout the centuries. The stone bridge, built in 1135-1146, the Church of St James, and the Schloss of Thurn and Taxis are a few of the highlights of this beautiful city. In the afternoon join our excursion to the Weltenburg Abbey, which towers high above the Danube and can be seen from afar. The Benedictine abbey is the oldest monastery in Bavaria and always worth a visit. Back onboard this evening, experience a Bavarian evening with lively traditional music and a dinner of local specialities.

Linz (Passau to Linz) - Today, those interested in excursions have all of three options. A morning walking tour through the Baroque center of Passau will provide insight into the history of the town. Alternatively, you can take part in a full day excursion in a comfortable tour bus, which will visit the Mozart town of Salzburg and the lake district of the Salzkammergut. Both excursions end in Linz, where you will return to your ship. The guests who do not take the bus to Salzburg can spend the afternoon on their own or take a guided tour through this Upper Austrian town before the ship weighs anchor in the evening.

Emmersdorf - This morning presents an opportunity to visit the famous Benedictine Abbey of Melk which stands over the Danube, or continue with the vessel to the town of Weissenkirchen. Here, sample some of the region’s famous Riesling wines or enjoy a leisurely stroll through the cobbled streets. Everyone will rejoin the ship in the early afternoon to continue on to Vienna.

Weissenkirchen, Austria - Here, sample some of the region’s famous Riesling wines or enjoy a leisurely stroll through the cobbled streets. Everyone will rejoin the ship in the early afternoon to continue on to Vienna.

Vienna (from Weissenkirchen) - There is much to see in Imperial Vienna:  its Imperial palaces, Museums Quarter with historic and contemporary buildings displaying works by Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt and other artists, the impressive buildings along the Ringstrasse, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the famous Vienna State Opera among many others. This afternoon perhaps venture to Schönbrunn Palace, the sumptuous summer palace and gardens of Empress Maria Theresia and the Habsburg empire. In the evening opt for the “Sound of Vienna” and listen to the “Alt Wien” orchestra play popular pieces from Vienna’s classical era. The vessel departs Vienna in the early hours.

Vienna, Austria - The "City of Waltzes" offers a treasure trove of gems and you have two ways to discover them. Join a city tour showcasing the regal splendor of the city, including the majestic Opera House and the former Imperial Palace of the Habsburgs before concluding in Vienna's historic city center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and then visit St. Stephen's Cathedral. Or, for a more active exploration of the area, take a guided bike ride along the Danube. During the afternoon, you can enjoy leisure time or pedal your way to Klosterneuburg Monastery on a guided cycling tour.
(B,L,D).

Bratislava, Slovakia - Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and the country's largest city. Bratislava is in southwestern Slovakia on both banks of the Danube River. Bratislava has a very pleasant medieval inner city with narrow, winding streets, a hill-top castle next to the river Danube, and many historic churches and buildings to visit. The old town is centered on two squares, Hlavne namestie (main square) and Hviezdoslavovo namestie (Hviezdoslav square, named after a famous Slovak poet).

Esztergom, Hungary - Esztergom is a city in northern Hungary, 46 km north-west of the capital Budapest. It lies in Komárom-Esztergom county, on the right bank of the river Danube, which forms the border with Slovakia. The biggest church of Central Europe can be found in Esztergom. The building is 100m in height and boasts the world's largest altar piece. Organ and choir concerts attract many visitors inside the interior. Other attractions include Watertown with its two-towered church, the Kereszteny Museum and the imposing Town Hall. The views from Szent Tamas Hill are stunning and the Szechenyi Square and surrounding streets offer a quaint but elegant vista.

Budapest, Hungary - Home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Buda Castle quarter in Castle Hill, and Heroes' Square, Budapest offers and unmatched combination of culture, tradition and even a secret labyrinth of caves and caverns under the city. Your city tour begins with a visit to the vibrant Great Market Hall brimming with vendors selling everything from food to souvenirs. The remainder of this tour takes you to both the Buda (hilly) and the Pest (flat) sides of the river (B)
