PORTS OF CALL

Venice, Italy - Venice is possibly the most romantic place you'll ever visit. It seems almost redundant to describe the charms of Venice. The cafes of St. Mark's Square, Palazzo-lined canals plied by gondolas, the elegant Doge's Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore: Venice is one impossibly beautiful sight after next. A great collection of Renaissance era art is housed at Gallerie dell'Accademia. Or, if you prefer modern art, Venice is home to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.

Kotor, Montenegro - Though small, this city is vibrant and shining and its people are happy to share their city with all who come.

At Sea - Cruising - Cruising

Messina, Sicily - A beautiful sheltered harbor is your gateway to Taormina, a small town at heart despite its major tourist attraction: the sublime Teatro Greco, offering panoramic views of the coastline and snow-capped Mt. Etna.

Naples, Italy - Capital of Southern Italy, the largest city of Campania, Naples is the third most populated city in Italy (after Rome and Milan), with over a million inhabitants, and is the most important industrial center and trading port for the South. Naples itself can provide a day's fun and entertainment, if its somewhat rundown appearance doesn't dissuade you. Or, join a tour of incredible Pompeii, frozen in time since A.D. 79 when Mt. Vesuvius brought an end to that then-thriving city. Or, take a quick ferry across the bay to the flowery Isle of Capri. Or, (yes, there's more) visit fabulous Sorrento, vacation spot for the well to do.

Portofino, Italy - Portofino, picturesquely situated in a narrow cove at the southeastern tip of a promontory might be the most beautiful place you'll ever see. A tiny port on Italy's northern coast, enchanting Portofino has long been popular with artists, actors and important people thanks to its beautiful setting. Abundantly blessed with agreeable climate and luxuriant vegetation, this "Pearl of the Mediterranean" should have a place on everyone's "bucket list." Fortunately for we in the know, it still remains unspoiled.

Florence/Pisa (La Spezia), Italy - La Spezia, Italy is a stunning town not far from some of Italy’s most famous cities like Pisa, Genoa and Florence. Historically, La Spezia was a prominent trade center during the Roman Empire. Today it remains not only one of Italy’s busiest port towns, but also home to the country’s largest naval base. As a cruise port, La Spezia is convenient, centrally located, and a little underrated.

The city is a major stop for a variety of Mediterranean cruises, and passengers often continue on to Ligurian cities like Cinque Terre, Pisa, or Genoa from La Spezia. Cinque Terre is merely a thirty minute westbound train from Stazione La Spezia Centrale, making it easy to explore the port of call and surrounding areas in a day or half-day excursion. Florence, too, is just two hours away—start your day on the coast of the Ligurian Sea and end the day looking up in awe at the Gothic-style Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.

Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy - Now that you've finished your cruise take advantage of the abundance of things to do in Rome. Ah, the Eternal City: Romance, culture, food, history and fashion. You'll have to plan your time carefully as the sights of Rome are captivating and seemingly endless: the Colosseum and Forum, the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain and, of course the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel. You can't fit it all in one day (or even a week, to be honest). Be sure to spend at least a couple days enjoying the many pleasures Rome has to offer before returning home from your cruise conference.

Hotel Barocco (or similar)

Piazza Barberini, 9 |, Via della Purificazione, 4, 00187
Roma RM, Italy

The entrance, on via della Purificazione, leads to the hotel's elegantly modest hall. A delicate fragrance greets our guests - an expression of the hotel's philosophy of hospitality. The atmosphere of this exclusive hotel is expression of elegance, discretion and comfort.

These qualities are much appreciated by our guests, among whom businesspeople, professionals, personages from the world of culture, and guests arriving from all parts of the globe to admire Rome and its attractions. The hote's location is, in itself, an invitation to explore Rome's city centre on foot and admire such sights as the Trevi fountain, the Piazza di Spagna square, the Quirinale area, and the Roman Fora. We looked to the practices of the best international hotels, and decided that Hotel Barocco, too, should become a 100% non-smoking hotel.
