It has been documented that 30% of patients who visit a primary care practice either present with a skin problem or show the provider a skin problem during their visit. These lectures present a tried and true approach to the treatment of skin disease. First, primary and secondary and secondary lesions are identified; secondly, an appropriate history is obtained; thirdly, a differential diagnosis is developed; fourthly, office dermatologic tests and other lab studies are used to refine the diagnosis; and, finally, a treatment is prescribed. All lectures will emphasize the team-based care approach used at the University of Mississippi where all members of the health care team work together with a carefully choreographed approach that encourages all members of the team to work at the
top of the abilities and certification.
Lectures will center around making a wide range of differential diagnoses to comfortably assess the proper approach to the particular problem. This will include basic bedside procedures such as the KOH Exam, Scabies Ink Prep, and Scabies Scraping for Microscopic Exam as well as surgical procedures that include Destruction, Biopsy and or Excision Techniques.
Common skin conditions will be reviewed with this approach in mind including, acne, warts, psoriasis, benign and malignant tumors, drug eruptions, basic and advanced dermatologic procedures and mission dermatology in underdeveloped countries. These lectures will be supplemented with interactive, Socratic discussions of common dermatologic conditions and "Interactive/Ask the Professor" discussions involving clinical material brought to the sessions by attendees on a USB drive.
Attendees will leave this meeting energized to identify dermatologic problems, efficiently diagnose these conditions and effectively treat them.

PORTS OF CALL
Paris, France

Your European river voyage begins this afternoon in the heart of Paris. After embarking and settling into your cabin, you'll be welcomed with a cocktail and a specially prepared dinner as the city's lights begin to twinkle along the Seine. But to truly embrace the magic of this iconic capital, we wholeheartedly encourage you to arrive a day or two early. Transforming your embarkation day from a travel-weary rush into a seamless and enriching cultural immersion is the perfect way to begin your well-deserved vacation.

Arriving in advance allows you to acclimate to the time zone, unwind from your journey, and dive into the unparalleled art, history, and gastronomy of the City of Light. Paris is not a city to be glimpsed through a taxi window on the way to the port; it is a living museum meant to be savored, explored, and experienced. Consider this your prelude to discovery—a mini-itinerary to set the stage for the adventure ahead.

Getting Your Bearings

Paris is served by two major international airports: Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Orly (ORY). From either, reaching the city center is straightforward. The RER B train line offers a direct and efficient connection from both airports. Alternatively, dedicated airport buses (Roissybus from CDG, Orlybus from ORY) provide comfortable transfers, while taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available for door-to-door convenience.

A Suggested 48-Hour Parisian Prelude

Day 1: Artistic Immersion & Neighborhood Charm

After checking into your hotel—perhaps in the literary hub of Saint-Germain-des-Prés or the chic, historic Le Marais—begin your exploration with a leisurely stroll. Make your way through the elegant Tuileries Garden, a masterpiece of landscape design, which leads directly to the grand entrance of the Louvre. As discerning travelers, you'll appreciate the value of pre-booking your tickets online to bypass the lengthy queues. Inside, you can focus your time on world-renowned masterpieces like the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and the magnificent Winged Victory of Samothrace without feeling rushed.

For your first evening, immerse yourself in authentic Parisian life. Wander the cobblestone streets of Le Marais, with its unique blend of medieval architecture and trendy boutiques. Find a classic bistro and indulge in French culinary staples—a rich onion soup, perfectly prepared steak frites, or coq au vin, paired with a superb glass of wine. After dinner, a walk along the banks of the Seine offers breathtaking views of illuminated landmarks like Notre Dame and the Pont Neuf, a truly unforgettable welcome to the city.

Day 2: Iconic Vistas & Montmartre's Magic

Start your day with an ascent of the Eiffel Tower. Again, pre-booked tickets are essential for a smooth experience. The panoramic views from the top are legendary, providing a stunning perspective of the city's layout. For an equally impressive but often less crowded alternative, consider climbing the Arc de Triomphe, where you can gaze down the twelve grand avenues, including the famous Champs-Élysées, that radiate from its center.

In the afternoon, escape to the bohemian village of Montmartre. Take the funicular or climb the steps to the magnificent Sacré-Cœur Basilica, its white domes gleaming atop the highest point in Paris. Afterward, lose yourself in the charming streets, watch artists at work in the bustling Place du Tertre, and imagine the days when Picasso and Renoir called this neighborhood home. For a different cultural flavor, visit the Musée d'Orsay, housed in a spectacular former railway station. Its collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art is second to none, featuring iconic works by Monet, Manet, Degas, and Van Gogh.

For your final evening, consider a memorable dinner cruise on the Seine. Gliding past the illuminated monuments offers a unique and romantic perspective of the city. It’s a relaxing and celebratory way to toast the start of your grand European journey.

Embarkation Day

Enjoy a final Parisian morning. Find a local boulangerie for a flaky croissant and a café crème. Perhaps indulge in some last-minute shopping, whether for luxury goods on the Champs-Élysées or for unique finds in the independent shops of Saint-Germain. Fully rested and already steeped in the culture of your first destination, you can make your way to the port in the afternoon, relaxed and ready to embark on the next phase of your adventure.
