Dr Mills is a board certified internist and palliative care specialist with over 35 years of medical experience and practice. He practiced for many years both clinically and with administrative positions at the former Fallon Clinic/Fallon Community Health System. It was here that he built a strong interest in and knowledge of the impact of health care systems and economics on the delivery of care. In these various rolls, he became a strong advocate for physician education to assist the evolution of the care models necessary for success in the developing health care market.
Dr Mills's extensive work in geriatrics in his clinical practice led to his growth in palliative and hospice medicine. Taking on a medical directorship at a local hospice, he gained practical knowledge of this field and went on to complete additional study in this area leading to his successful completion of board certification in 2008.
He is a zealous proponent of interactive learning processes and enjoys leading/mentoring invigorated medical education forums. He has lectured and taught broadly at both a community/ lay level, medical school level , residency/fellow level and at attending level of audience

Dr. Joel M. Kaufman is Clinical Professor of Neurology at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and a member of the Department of Neurology at Rhode Island Hospital, where he is the Medical Director of the Neurology Resident Teaching Clinic.
Dr. Kaufman graduated from Boston University, majoring in mathematics, and from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his medical internship at Presbyterian Hospital at Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco (now California Pacific Medical Center) and his Neurology residency at Boston City Hospital (now Boston Medical Center). He then joined Fallon Clinic (now Reliant Medical Group) in Worcester, Massachusetts. From 1988 through 1996 he was Medical Director of Fallon Community Health Plan. From 1997 to early 2014 he was Executive Director of the Lifespan/Physicians Professional Services Organization.
Dr. Kaufman is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and active with the Academy, currently chairing the Payment Alternatives Team. He is also serving or has served on many other professional boards and committees.
Dr. Kaufman's interests include physician advocacy, quality improvement in medical practice, provide-payer interaction, and clinical teaching.

Begin your day at the Sagrada Família, Antoni Gaudí's breathtaking and still-unfinished basilica. This is the city’s most iconic landmark for good reason. The experience of standing inside, as sunlight filters through the stained-glass windows and illuminates the forest-like columns, is unforgettable. A word of practical advice: booking tickets online weeks, or even months, in advance is not just a suggestion, it is essential to avoid disappointment.
From there, take a leisurely stroll or a short metro ride to Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona’s most elegant boulevard. Here you’ll find the “Block of Discord,” a single block showcasing wildly different styles by the city's top Modernista architects. The highlights are Gaudí’s Casa Batlló, with its skeletal balconies and dragon-scaled roof, and Casa Milà (La Pedrera), whose undulating stone façade resembles a seaside cliff. While you can tour the interiors, simply admiring them from the outside is a rewarding experience in itself. The Eixample neighborhood offers a wealth of excellent restaurants for an evening meal, from traditional Catalan cuisine to innovative fine dining.
**Day 2: Old World Labyrinths & Artistic Soul**
Dedicate your morning to the Barri Gòtic. This is the heart of old Barcelona, a captivating labyrinth of narrow medieval streets opening onto quiet plazas. Let yourself get lost. You will inevitably stumble upon the magnificent Barcelona Cathedral, the secluded and poignant Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, and remnants of the ancient Roman walls.
For lunch, immerse yourself in the sensory explosion of the Mercat de la Boqueria, just off the famous La Rambla. While the front stalls cater heavily to tourists, venture deeper to find more authentic vendors and small counter-service bars (known as *barras*) serving incredibly fresh seafood and tapas. For a slightly less crowded but equally vibrant alternative, consider the Mercat de Santa Caterina with its distinctive, colorful mosaic roof.
In the afternoon, cross over into the adjacent El Born district. Often presented as a gateway to the Costa del Sol, Malaga is a destination that stands firmly on its own considerable merits. This is the birthplace of Picasso, and the city honors its most famous son with the exceptional Museo Picasso, housing a significant collection of his works within a beautifully restored palace. The city’s appeal lies in its rich, visible layers of history. At the foot of the formidable Moorish Alcazaba—a wonderfully preserved fortress-palace that offers a more intimate alternative to Granada's Alhambra—lies a remarkably intact Roman Theatre. This juxtaposition of two great empires is a powerful sight and a testament to Malaga’s deep past.
Beyond these headline sites, the city itself is the main attraction. The historic center is a delightful labyrinth of marble-paved lanes, leading to grand plazas and the impressive, yet famously unfinished, Malaga Cathedral, affectionately nicknamed 'La Manquita' (The One-Armed Lady). Reaching it requires a journey of approximately 90 minutes each way, making for a full and tightly scheduled day. Once there, the rewards are immense. Porto is not a city of manicured perfection; it’s a place of soulful, gritty beauty, a UNESCO World Heritage site that feels utterly authentic. The city’s heart is the Ribeira district, a captivating tangle of medieval alleys and colorful, tile-clad houses stacked precariously along the Douro River.
Your day here is best spent on foot, so wear comfortable shoes for the city’s famous hills. A quintessential experience is walking across the upper deck of the magnificent Dom Luís I Bridge, an Eiffel-inspired masterpiece offering breathtaking views of the Ribeira on one side and the rooftops of Vila Nova de Gaia on the other.
