With degrees in Theatre, Dance, Psychology, Counseling, and an MFA from Alfred University, he is pursuing a doctorate in Organizational Leadership. Darryl! is a passionate advocate for social justice, equality, and transformative change. As a social entrepreneur, life coach, mental health specialist, and master trainer, he provides CARF-accredited training and consulting in Mental Health, Organizational Development, and DEI(B) for nonprofits in DC and MD. He also serves as ordained clergy, supporting ministries locally and internationally.

Philicia Jefferson, PhD, LPC

Dr. Philicia Jefferson is a licensed clinical mental health counselor in Virginia with more than 30 years of experience. She holds doctorates in counselor education (George Mason University) and in theological studies (LOGOS University), as well as a master's in counseling (Eastern Washington University). As CEO and founder of the National Christian Counselor Institute, she promotes integrating spirituality into mental health care. Her research focuses on Reactive Attachment Disorder, traumatic brain injury, PTSD among military members, and emotional self-efficacy in students with cognitive disabilities. Dr. Jefferson has been recognized as an Oxford Roundtable Scholar for her work in adolescent mental health services and mental health disparities.

Frances M. Christian, Ph.D., LCSW, provides psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and families as a private practitioner. She is a former full-time Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center Department of Psychiatry faculty member who served as Director of Clinical Social Work and Co-Director of the Anxiety Disorders Specialty Clinic. She remains affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry as an external Clinical Professor supervising VCU psychiatry residents in providing psychotherapy services. She is a seasoned cognitive-behavioral therapist specializing in working with trauma survivors. She is past Chairman of the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health Professions Board of Social Work and an active member of several professional organizations, including the Association of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (ABCT), The National Association of Social Workers (NASW,) and the National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW), International OCD Foundation and the International Society for the Study of Trauma & Dissociation (ISSTD), In 2013 she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Social Workers, Virginia Chapter recognizing her as "someone who has been recognized beyond the social work profession”.

Maria Jefferson, a CT Licensed Professional Counselor and founder of Purpose Path Counseling Services, LLC, and The Purpose Project, is a beacon of hope and empowerment for BIPOC communities. She stands out as a Speaker, Consultant, Workshop Facilitator, and a Workplace Wellness Coach, specializing in the treatment and advocacy of trauma and mental health. Maria's dedication to addressing the needs of underserved communities stems from her rich educational background, holding a Bachelor’s in Business Management, Human Resources Management Certificate, and a Master of Science in Human Services with a focus on Forensic Mental Health Counseling. Her expertise is broad, encompassing EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Career and Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, with a special focus on treating adults with PTSD from complex traumatic experiences. Vikram Surya Chiruvolu, MA, LPC, BSCS

Vikram Surya Chiruvolu, MA, LPC, BSCS, is a community-oriented psychotherapist and computer scientist. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the District of Columbia. As the Founder and CEO of Technotherapy Public Benefit Corporation and as a person with lived experience of long-term recovery from mental health challenges, he brings a unique skill set and perspective to patient care and clinician training. Vikram holds a Master of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of the District of Columbia (2018) and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Rutgers University (2004,). His Master's project focused on clinician training on mobile and web technology and was published in a revised version in 2022 in the Journal of Counseling Research and Practice. He has resided in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC, for 20 years and is a passionate public artist and advocate for racial and social justice on a neighborhood level. His community work has been covered by WNBC4 and WAMU, and his writing has appeared in the Washington Post.

Irene Lee Lines, LCSW, LIMHP, CCTP

Irene Lee Lines completed her master’s in clinical social work at the University of Nebraska. She currently provides tele-therapy for adolescents and adults at Envision Counseling Center. With over twenty-two years of experience providing clinical counseling in various settings and ten years working as a Military Family Life Counselor worldwide, she has developed several successful innovative programs for families and individuals dealing with severe emotional disturbances. As a certified clinical trauma professional, she passionately applies a variety of therapeutic interventions to help our clients achieve their mental health goals, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based solution-focused therapy, NLP neuro-linguistic programming, EFT emotional freedom tapping on meridians, writing narrative journals, visualization, and EMDR eye movement desensitization and reprocessing psychotherapies. Notably, in 2011 while working in a Residential Treatment Center for adolescents who experienced trauma, she created ICAR: Integrated Calm Assertive Response, an innovative protocol of various traditional and alternative therapies to calm anxiety in the body, rewire the brain to calm aggressive behaviors. In 2019, Ms. Lines presented I-CAR at the International Conference on Mental and Behavioral Health in Tokyo, Japan, and the International Conference in Clinical Counseling and Psychology. Irene’s dedication to improving mental health practices has been recognized both nationally and internationally, and her tireless efforts have made a positive impact on the lives of those she serves.

At Sea - Cruising

Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel requires a strategic approach to bypass the commercial density of the immediate port area and access the island’s genuine natural splendor. As the gateway to the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef—the second-largest reef system in the world—the island’s primary allure lies beneath the surface. For divers and snorkelers, the drift dives at Palancar and Colombia reefs offer exceptional visibility and vibrant marine life. For a land-based alternative that avoids the masses, we recommend renting a jeep to explore the 'Wild Side' (the uninhabited east coast). This rugged shoreline offers a serene escape dotted with small, open-air reggae bars and crashing waves, providing a stark, beautiful contrast to the busy west coast.

A critical note regarding Mayan history: While the famous mainland sites of Tulum and Coba are spectacular, visiting them requires a 45-minute ferry to Playa del Carmen followed by a bus ride. This logistical commitment consumes your entire day and introduces transit stress. Unless these specific sites are non-negotiable, we advise remaining on the island. You can visit the smaller, on-island ruins of San Gervasio to satisfy historical curiosity without the risk of missing the ship.

If your goal is relaxation, Cozumel’s beach clubs are highly developed, ranging from high-energy all-inclusives to sophisticated, quiet retreats where the focus is on service and tranquility. When dining in the main town of San Miguel, avoid the waterfront tourist strip. Grand Cayman offers a distinctly polished version of the Caribbean. As a major global financial hub, the island feels exceptionally safe, clean, and well-organized. However, logistical planning is essential here: this is a tender port. Your ship will anchor offshore, and ferrying to the pier takes time, so you must factor this transit into your schedule to maximize your day ashore.

The island’s reputation rests on two genuine natural wonders. The first is Seven Mile Beach, a magnificent stretch of coral sand and water with visibility that rivals a swimming pool. While it is no secret and can get crowded, the sheer quality of the beach justifies the hype.
