Update in Medicine Enters its 4th Year! Join us for this year’s updated 2008 version. Course director David B. Doman, MD reprises his highly popular “Updates in Medicine” cruise conference with a visit to Bermuda. Come with us and experience the breathtaking beauty of this island paradise.

The purpose of this activity is to give participants diagnostic and therapeutic updates in the fields of gastroenterology and rheumatology

At the conclusion of this activity participants will be able to:

1. Describe the clinical manifestations, diagnostic evaluation and therapeutic options for the “new GERD”: eosinophilic esophagitis
2. Utilize new diagnostic tests/therapies for IBD( 2 hrs)
3. Explain the changing paradigm/new treatment options for irritable bowel syndrome
4. Review the epidemiology, diagnostic evaluation, and therapeutic options for hepatitis C
5. Identify the “silent” celiac disease epidemic
6. Describe the emerging role of probiotics in GI disorders
7. Describe clinical manifestations, diagnostic evaluation and therapeutic options for rheumatoid arthritis.
8. Utilize new concepts in osteoporosis
9. Review the spondyloarthropathies/AS
10. Describe the rheumatic manifestations of systemic disease
11. Identify the approach to the patient with gout
12. Explain new approaches to osteoarthritis
13. Review emerging concepts of connective tissue disorders: SLE/CREST
